A Fleet Policy is defined as business insurance for a group of several vehicles that can include various types of commercially used vehicle. Some fleets will consist partly or wholly of private cars, however most will be dominated by working commercial vehicles; these may range from pedestrian controlled vehicles EG. milk floats to 40-ton trucks or to special vehicles, such as mobile cranes, tankers, buses and coaches.

 

What distinguishes a fleet policy from simple insurance for a collection of vehicles, is that the fleet policy premium will depend partly or wholly on the past experience of that fleet as

a whole.

A fleet policy will prove to be substantially cheaper than taking out separate policies. A fleet policy is flexible and convenient, especially if there are frequent vehicle and driver changes. For the sole trader with one vehicle or smaller business with very few vehicles, a commercial vehicle quote may be supplied in a similar way to general motor vehicle cover; Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft or just Third Party.
