What is the approach to claims handling by Carvel Insurance Brokers?

As a certified commercial insurance brokers, Carvel includes a comprehensive Claims Handling Service as standard on all of its commercial risk policies. Should your business need to make a claim then your first call should be to Carvel. Your appointed claims handler will work with a designated person within your organisation to settle the claim as soon is as possible with the minimum of fuss.

What information do we need to provide to obtain a quote?

Unsurprisingly, this will depend on the type of commercial insurance policy that you require. Most quotes can be issued by telephone, however Carvel will be happy to visit your premises if assessments are required or you would prefer a personal visit. It is sensible to have the following general information to hand when seeking a quote:
Trading Address | Number of Employees | Annual Turnover or Estimated First Year Revenue | Date the Policy is required from Previous Claims History | Number of Years of No Claims | Value of Contents, Stock, Equipment, Buildings & Vehicles.

How long is a Carvel Quote valid for?

All quotes are valid for 30 days unless specified otherwise. After this period, should you wish to proceed, Carvel will provide you with a fresh quote.

How will my claims history affect me?

Carvel will present a range of policies depending on your claims history as some policies will be affected by past claims more than others. All insurance organisations will require information on your claims history and this will include details of claims that may have been submitted but not paid. In general terms evidence of previous claims will be reflected in
a commercial insurance premium.

Will there be lots of forms to fill in for a quote or cover?

Carvel prefers to take your details and fill in the forms for you when you are on the phone. This means that we can then send you a quote or proposal immediately. No lengthy form filling, more time for you to do your job or run your business.

Do I need buildings cover if I work from home?

In most cases a domestic household contents insurance policy will provide cover for a home office. You are advised to check any such policies as sometimes this will be an extension option. Any cover that is provided as standard will be limited on sums insured and what it covers eg. Your household policy will not cover Money, Loss of Income, Personal Belongings of Staff or Public Liability for Visitors etc. Carvel insurance Brokers are happy to advise according to your circumstances.

Do we need a Health & Safety Policy?

If you employ five or more persons then yes, by law you must have a written Health & Safety Policy. Some insurance providers may take account of your health & safety procedures and offer reduced premiums as a result.

Are there any Commercial Risks that you don’t insure?

We do not offer Life Insurance. Apart from that - try us. Whether you think you are high risk, have a claims history or have an unusual request Carvel, will use its industry agreements and contacts to source a policy. Generally, where there are commercial risks we can provide insurance options.
